Accessibility

Music Description is built for screen reader users first. This page is our plain-language accessibility statement. It is not a formal WCAG certification claim.

What we aim for

  • Clear headings and page titles.
  • Text alternatives for important images where the theme controls them (decorative covers may be hidden from assistive tech on purpose).
  • Keyboard-visible focus styles.
  • Forms with labels — including Submit a request and account flows.
  • Agent and OAuth consent screens that do not display secret token values.

Assistive tech we care about

VoiceOver on iOS and common desktop screen readers are first-class. We prefer secure forms and links over visual-only handoffs.

Known limits

  • Some third-party embeds or plugins may be less polished than our own pages.
  • Description audio (“Play”) depends on whether that track is connected for a given post.
  • This statement will grow as we ship accessibility fixes — it is not a guarantee of zero barriers.

Feedback

If something blocks you, use Contact and tell us the page URL, your browser or device, and what you expected to happen. We take those reports seriously.

Conformance target

Music Description aims for WCAG 2.2 Level AA on staging and production. Body text targets contrast of at least 7:1 where practical, and never below 4.5:1.

What works today

  • Skip link and labeled landmarks on description pages
  • Labeled search and request forms
  • Cover images on browse pages are decorative (empty alt) so cards read as title and artist. Post pages use a YouTube thumbnail alt that names the video.
  • Heading structure on the homepage sections
  • Carousel respects reduced motion and exposes a Pause control

Report a barrier

If something blocks you, email notification@musicdescription.com and mention accessibility, with the page URL, what you tried, and your assistive technology if you use one. We treat barrier reports as priority fixes.

You can also use Submit a request and mention accessibility in the note.
