Music Description writes audio descriptions of music videos for blind and low-vision fans. This page explains how we handle videos, lyrics, still frames, names and quotes.

Ownership

Music videos, songs, lyrics, artist names, logos and other trademarks belong to their owners. We do not claim ownership of them. The written descriptions are our own work.

Videos

  • The music videos stay on YouTube. Each description page links to the video on YouTube.
  • We do not embed YouTube players on our pages.
  • We do not host or stream the music videos or the songs.

Still frames

To write and check descriptions, we keep still frames taken from each music video, about one per second, sized down to a maximum of 768 pixels on the long edge.

We use these stills to check that descriptions and member corrections match what is on screen. They are also available through our API and MCP tools for the same purpose.

Lyrics

Our “Follow the Lyrics” section pairs lines of a song’s lyrics with a description of what is on screen while those lines play. This lets a listener who cannot see the video follow the picture with the song.

Lyrics are shown as text only. We do not provide the song audio.

Names and quotes

  • We name a person only when the name is in the video’s credits or legible on screen.
  • We name a brand, business or place only when its logo, sign or text is legible on screen.
  • Text quoted from the screen, such as signs or captions, is quoted to describe what is visible.
